Lead Carpenter

Job Description

Our Lead Carpenter is responsible for the onsite successful production of our clients’ projects, ranging from partial remodels to new home builds. The Lead Carpenter works closely with the Superintendent to manage the jobsite by supervising the Tectonic Field Team, ensuring work is performed efficiently and effectively, meeting Tectonic’s Standard of Quality.

Our Lead Carpenter possesses expert-level experience in the field of residential construction, including frame to finish carpentry with high attention to detail and quality. They are responsible for analyzing and internalizing project design and blueprints.

This non-exempt position pays $40-50 per hour, commensurate with experience. 

Directly reports to / supervised by: Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Onsite carpentry execution of ~3-5 residential construction projects.

Execution Strategy (15%)

  • Read blueprints, drawings, sketches and consult with Superintendent on questions and/or execution strategy.
  • Develop biweekly execution plan for Tectonic Field Team, including consumables & tools needed

Production & Supervision (75%)

  • Self-produce and manage Field Team execution of interior and exterior carpentry from frame to finish, including but not limited to: 
    • Demolition
    • Framing
    • Installing windows & doors
    • Installing wood and cement-based exterior siding and trim
    • Installing engineered hardwood flooring, LVP
    • Installing interior trim packages, including interior doors, baseboard, casing, crown molding, closet packages, etc.
    • Installing cabinetry packages, including kitchen, bathrooms, custom built-ins
  • Supervise Field Team for efficiency and quality; ensure craftsmanship of Carpentry team meets Tectonic Standard of Quality
  • Mentor Tectonic Field Team to grow in carpentry skills
  • Maintain clean and tidy jobsites; trailer / tool organization
  • Create daily joblogs of Field Team work performed

Other (10%)

  • Create a system for Tectonic tools; maintenance, organization, and tracking

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years residential Lead Carpentry experience
  • 5+ years with finish carpentry work: installing doors, trim packages and cabinets
  • 10+ years experience in residential remodeling and new home construction
  • 5+ years  leadership experience, ideally leading a Field Team in production
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely, efficient manner
  • Technologically literate. Familiarity with:
    • Google Suite, BuilderTrend, Slack
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
  • Ability to travel across Boulder County
