SUPERINTENDENT

Job Description

Our Superintendent is responsible for the onsite successful production of our clients’ projects, ranging from partial remodels to new home builds. The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager to manage the jobsites and schedule for each project. They oversee the execution of the Tectonic Field Team and trade partners, ensuring work is performed efficiently and effectively, meeting Tectonic’s Standard of Quality and clients’ expectations.

Our Superintendent is proactive and solutions-oriented, preventing issues before they arise and creating swift resolutions when they do. They are motivated to improve processes that elevate our company and improve client experience.

The exempt, salaried pay range for a Superintendent is $90,000-105,000, commensurate with experience.

Directly reports to / supervised by: Project Manager

Responsibilities

This position spends 80% of their time on the jobsite. The Superintendent oversees 3-5 residential construction projects simultaneously, utilizing Tectonic systems within BuilderTrend

  • Design Planning (10%)
    • Develop Execution Plans for each project, informing the PM of schedule and relaying execution needs / strategies to Field Team and trades
  • Production Management (80%)

Jobsite Management 

  • Read blueprints and design documents to ensure project is being produced as designed
  • Layout various aspects of the job and verify prior to installation
  • Coordinate with PM to receive material deliveries, ensuring all materials are accounted for and intact
  • Create daily joblogs for summary of progress, deliveries, trade partner work, inspections, progress photos, etc.
  • Utilize Buildertrend checklists for team and project task management
  • Ensure all work performed is in compliance with permitting authority requirements and building codes
  • Systemize and organize jobsites and Tectonic’s production resources
    • Create SOPs of jobsite organization
    • Create shop & trailer inventory and organizational systems
    • Maintain inventory of consumables and tools across multiple jobsites
  • In coordination with PM, navigate jobsite challenges and create solutions
  • Participate in weekly production leadership meeting to provide updates, discuss progress and inform schedule updates

Tectonic Field Team 

  • Utilize Buildertrend checklists for team and project task management
  • Relay execution plan to Field Team<
  • Supervise and support the Lead Carpenter in ensuring the Field Team team executes per schedule and Tectonic’s Standard of Quality
    • Ensure Lead Carpenter completes daily joblogs of Field Team production
    • Assist Lead Carpenter in planning ahead for tools & consumable needs, as well as plan of execution
  • Quality control Field Team’s work. Manage challenges and continued learning

Trade Partners & Other 

  • Serve as the onsite liaison for trade partners, per the project schedule.
    • Answer questions, solve problems and ensure quality of work.
  • Ensure trade partners follow jobsite protocols
  • Daily quality control audits of trade partner work
  • Onsite coordination of inspections
  • Participate in client meetings and/or walk-throughs as requested by the PM
  • Tectonic Systems Improvement (10%)
  • Contribute improvements and create systems to enhance Tectonic’s project management and production processes
  • Evaluate Field Team production data with PM & CEO to refine project estimating

Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in residential remodeling and new home construction
  • 5+ years strong leadership experience, ideally leading a carpentry team in production
  • Excellent time and priority management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects onsite in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints 
  • Understanding of carpentry techniques, methods of installation, and construction systems
  • Advanced construction math competency
  • Meticulous and methodical in approach to production
  • Technologically proficient; ability to efficiently operate technology and learn new software, including but not limited to: 
    • Buildertrend
    • Google Workspace
    • Stack 
    • MacOS or Microsoft OS
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally to support the various aspects of design + planning and construction
  • Ability to travel across Boulder County
