Job Description

Tectonic Design Build is seeking a highly collaborative team-player with exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and an eye for design to join our fast growing company. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, open to learning new processes, have great communication skills, and be able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

The Junior Designer will contribute to the success of our company by assisting with all aspects of design development, including but not limited to: site measurements, meeting preparation, technical drawings, client relationships, inputting spec/bids into Buildertrend, and maintaining + building our sample library.

The hourly pay range for a Junior Interior Designer is $28/hour, commensurate with experience. This position will start part-time, with the possibility for full-time hire.

Directly reports to / supervised by: Lead Designer

Responsibilities

Client + Vendor Relations

Develop trusting relationship with clients to move them through Tectonic processes (discovery; feasibility and/or design + planning)
Assist Lead Designer in the development of client’s goals and objectives for each project during the design planning phase
Maintain consistent and clear communication with clients in Buildertrend throughout the duration of their project
Create and maintain positive relationships with all new and future vendors and trade partners

Design Planning

Onboard all new clients and assist in client set up and the coordination of site measure with architect partners
Collaborate with Lead Designer in the development of design aesthetic, space planning, and finish + fixture options for each project
Gather, input and organize data for selections, bids, scheduling, etc. into our systems
Draw and input project elevations
Assist Lead Designer with the site or showroom visits

Systems

Willingness to contribute ideas and create systems to enhance Tectonic design processes
Produce assets that can be used in alignment with refined processes
Ability to build and maintain a design sample library, while researching new products and materials
Manage and track time efficiently to ensure all parties are staying within each job’s projected time frame

Skills & Qualifications

Degree in design, design certificate, or equivalent experience (required)
Technologically literate, including but not limited to:
- Proficient with AutoCAD
- Proficient with Google Workspace
- Familiarity with Buildertrend and Slack
- Able to quickly learn new software systems
Portfolio of design sketches, renderings, and selections (required)
Excellent communication skills, particularly with client customer service
Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and a problem solver
Passionate about design and driven to help grow the Tectonic brand
Ability to work cross-departmentally to support the various aspects of design planning and construction, but also able to work independently when needed
Ability to travel across Boulder and Denver counties as needed for site assessments, client meetings, showrooms, sample procurement, etc.
