Tectonic Design + Build Role Description


Our Construction Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the successful production of our clients’ projects, ranging from but not limited to, partial remodels to whole home custom builds. The Project Manager provides construction insight to the Design team in finalizing project details, then autonomously runs production with the Field team, ensuring the project is completed within budget, on schedule, and meets Tectonic’s standard of quality as well as client expectations. 

Our PM is highly organized, detail-oriented, and can juggle multiple projects simultaneously. Tectonic is highly systems and tech-oriented, thus we expect that our PM will be comfortable, efficient, and easily adaptive with various platforms.

The non, exempt salaried pay range for a Project Manager is $80,000-90,000, commensurate with experience. 

Directly reports to / supervised by: CEO


This position is 70% field and 30% office. 

  • Oversee residential construction projects from mobilization to completion, managing 2-3 residential design build projects simultaneously, including remodel, addition, and new home construction
    • Design planning
      • Participate in final design phase to identify construction concerns prior to completion of design documents
      • Collaborate with Architects and Designer to develop production schedule and budget
      • Work with Lead Designer in creating a materials procurement bid schedule
    • Production management
      • Determine subcontractor needs and manage bid collection process
      • Manage subcontractor scheduling and ensure timely execution of scope of work 
      • Maintain production budget, including subcontractor invoices, creating purchase orders, negotiating change orders
      • Procurement of materials, including rough-in and finish materials
      • Day-to-Day project operations
        • Collaborate with Lead Carpenter to develop week-by-week jobsite schedule, including assigned responsibilities & check-ins for Field team
        • Navigate jobsite challenges and create solutions 
        • Maintain clean and tidy jobsites
        • Ensure daily and weekly job logs are complete and satisfactory
        • Coordinate inspections, project scope changes, closeout
    • Client Relations
      • Develop trusting relationships with clients to move them through mobilization and production
      • Utilize CoConstruct to communicate project updates to clients
    • Tectonic Processes 
      • Willingness to contribute ideas and create systems to enhance Tectonic project management processes

    Skills & Qualifications

    • 5+ years demonstrated project management experience on residential or commercial construction – specific experience with partial remodels, new home construction, and additions (strongly preferred)
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely, efficient manner (required)
    • Carpentry experience to ensure understanding of frame to finish residential construction, including reading blueprints, building codes, and inspection regulations (desired, not required)
    • Bachelor’s Degree (desired, not required)
    • Technologically literate, including but not limited to:
      • Proficient with Google Suite: Gmail, Cal, Drive, Docs, Chat
      • Familiarity with CoConstruct
    • Excellent communication skills, particularly with client customer service
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
    • Ability to work cross-departmentally to support the various aspects of design + planning and construction
    • Ability to travel across Boulder Metro for project management

    Carpenter Level 1

    The Carpenter Level 1 role is crucial to the success of each Tectonic project. They will assist the Carpenter team in executing the fundamental components of on-site carpentry that reflect the Tectonic standard of quality.


    Carpenter Level 2

    The Carpenter Level 2 role is the lynch-pin of the Carpentry team and the Tectonic brand. They have a comprehensive carpentry skill set necessary to execute a project from start to finish while mentoring those still growing.


    Lead Carpenter

    Our Lead Carpenter possesses expert-level experience in the field of residential construction. They are responsible for analyzing schematics and blueprints, following clients’ specifications, developing the scope of work.


    Project Manager

    The Project Manager provides construction insight to the Design team in finalizing project details, then autonomously runs production with the Field team, ensuring the project is completed within budget, on schedule, and meeting Tectonic’s standard of quality as well as the Owner’s expectations.
